Superficial

Its funny how somethings changes as you grow older, for example, when you were a kid, people always tell you that, its not what is on the outside that matters its what is in the inside that matters. Once you start to go into school, Its definitely what is on the outside that counts. What do i mean by outside, anything that goes into your result slips is the only thing that truly matters. I would say majority of people would ask you ‘how was school?’ or maybe ‘what did you learn today’, Truth is they are more interested in your results than actually caring about you. The constant pressure from them is, if you do not do well, others are going to overtake you, you are going to be a failure because you didn’t do good enough for that piece of paper(Degree, Diploma etc etc).

How important is that piece of paper actually? How smart are you actually thanks to that paper? I mean a guy could get a few degrees does that mean he is smarter than everyone else?, No, for all you know all that guy ever learnt in life is how to remember everything from a textbook and from examples given in the textbook. Is life going to be the same as a textbook?. People evolve, they change, But with the way education actually works. We are exactly the same as how it all started. You don’t grow smarter because you have a piece a paper that proves you are able to study. In fact everyone is smart, it depends on what they have interest in, If you ask someone with 0 interest in music to write a song, do you think he can do it as good as someone with has the passion the interest?.

Its the same for our education system, the system is flawed. “Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole live believing its stupid.” I find it very ridiculous that there are guidelines to grade things regarding Art, they tell you to think freely and yet there are guidelines to restrict all this. Sure there are many reasons why you need guidelines, for example to ensure fairness in the marking, But i mean if a painting of just a blue background and one white line that goes across it, is considered art, then shouldn’t we also have a guideline to what is considered art?. Different people have different perspective on what art, the one marking the art piece will have a different opinion on what art is, that’s why people would actually pay a hefty sum to actually buy a painting that looks like it was done by an 8 year old. As you can see i don’t understand what abstract art is, but other do, that’s why there pay good money for such painting.

Like for example the recent incident at South Korean, whereby the captain of the ship abandon the ship and its passenger. I don’t get why do they get such high pay when it times of trouble they just care about their own life.  Next we have ‘Park Ji-young, a 22-year-old part-time ferry employee, reportedly helped passengers escape and tended to the injured. Survivors said that she refused to leave the ship while there were still passengers to be rescued.’ Can you imagine if she was the captain? or maybe someone who had more experience but with the same mindset, many more lives could be save. No… they can’t, because they did not qualify to be in such position, Its a given that with higher education you qualify to hold high position job. How many people you know are incompetent, you know the guy sitting beside you can do a better job than your superior, the only reason he got the job is because he had a better education than him.

The world is so superficial that just because you have a higher education it means you are smarter than the guy next to you, this is exactly what is wrong with the world.

I shall just end it here, there might be a part 2, who knows… everyone is smart in their own world, in what way you want to show your smarts is totally up to you. I bet everyone was ostracizing the guy who thought of using fire to cook food. Did that guy had education to teach him to do it? No he didn’t, don’t let what other people say affect how you think, You are the smartest and greatest, just know where to apply it.
